Bathing Water Litter Grant

Litter grant for designated bathing waters

Last Standing Volunteers

The Bathing Water Litter Grant scheme, which was administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful through the Clean Coast Scotland partnership, was to encourage, facilitate and reward communities by designated bathing waters who are involved in litter prevention campaigns or removal events which raise awareness of the impacts of coastal and marine litter on the environment.

The grant scheme is now closed to applicants.

The 2010 grant scheme winners were announced on 1 July. Four £1,000 grants were awarded to groups at five bathing waters, including, Ettrick Bay, Broughty Ferry, Machrihanish, Montrose and Arbroath. Funding of £4,000 was also awarded as part of the 2009 grant scheme to empower community action to reduce marine and coastal litter pollution at bathing waters and their associated beaches, and applications were received for three bathing waters in the Argyll & Bute area.

The 2008 grant scheme awarded grants of up to £500 to groups at 12 bathing waters, including: Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Balmedie, Cruden Bay, Fraserburgh Philorth, Fraserburgh Tigerhill, and Peterhead Lido in Aberdeenshire; Ganavan Sands, Luss Bay, Machrihanish, and Ettrick Bay in Argyll and Bute; and Lunan Bay in Angus.
